Granger Smith : Moonrise Review
Multi-Platinum selling Country artist Granger Smith has released his latest album called Moonrise. With over 1.3 billion on-demand streams and 12 million social media followers, Smith, is looking to expand his creative horizons as he announces his acting debut as the star of PureFlix’s upcoming film Moonrise, available on December 15th. Produced by Smith with John Marlin, every song on the new record will be featured in the movie. Although written for the film, the twelve songs cover tragedy, hardships, repurpose and redemption. However, Moonrise is unique in Smith’s catalog as it was truly inspired by the movie’s character’s journey, Will Brown – a Country music artist, however the result is still 100% authentic to Granger Smith.
Moonrise opens with “Never Been,” a fitting opening song that sets the tone for the set and begins with a strong melody and storyline. Smith is a singer that has a very identifiable timbre and style, and this selection finds him singing at his best.
“Forever Forward” is a powerful message and one that is set to a memorable melody. Smith’s songs are very predictable in form, but his singing and style is the charm as he brings the tune’s character to life.
Moonrise has several outstanding selections on it and many of these songs will mean more when paired with the movie. It makes sense that Smith is moving into acting as his YouTube channel is very popular and he is natural in front of the camera.
