Alyson Murray : Come To Me Review

alyson-murray-cdAustralian vocalist Alyson Murray is quickly establishing herself as an up and coming soul singer.  Her seductive vocal styling is only matched by her acumen to create hook laden tunes that are memorable. Murray is a Graduate from the Victorian College of the Arts, 2015 with studies in jazz and improvisation. Throughout 2019, Murray started posting a series of A Capella videos on instagram, with hashtag #AMSESSIONS. This series started in New York and has captured the rawness of Murray’s songwriting. The culmination of this series as resulted in the latest single by Murray titled, “Come to Me” and features some of New York’s finest musicians, pianist Kelly Green, guitarist Alicyn Yaffee, bassist Michelle Osbourne and drummer Lucianna Padmore.

Murray has a warmth to her voice that is enlivened by the soulfulness of her diction and the rhythm in which she delivers each note.  Her ability to connect with the audience through meaningful lyrics that offer a hook laden chorus is cornerstone to her successful writing style.  Each  note drips like honey on “Come To Me,” Murray illuminates the new-soul genre with inspiration from pop and gospel idioms.

“Come to Me” comes from a place of personal experiences.  After relocating to New York, to launch her career Murray was met with the challenges of a burgeoning career.  Patiently waiting for things to work out and trying to trust it’ll come, “Come to Me” is a celebration of that feeling.  The tune offers feel-good rhythms and a gospel inspired “sing-along” outro.  We were first introduced by Murray through her release Breathe.  Murray continues to push forward in her artistry and with each new release the unfolding of greatness has begun.

About The Author
Shannon Smith
A fan of music my entire life. Should that be enough, well it is for me. Who buys music, the fans. Who listens to music, the fans. Like me, there are many like-minded individuals that daily search for meaningful and new music to add to their playlist, their soundtrack of life. A life without music would Bb. Yes, I have seen that saying floating around for years, and truth is, its #truth. So, may I introduce you to Shannon Smith (me). I am the editor. A music junkie that can’t get enough music in my life. A nerd (proudly), with some mad love for technology and design. It is that desire that sparked Sound in Review. Life is busy, the reviews are meant to ultimately introduce and briefly talk about the music. We have a section called SIR Quote: this is my way of saying thank you, to the countless artists making the world a place of expression. Show yours by rating each artists album, just as we have (collectively as writers), to show your support for your favorite artist.
