Frank Foster ‘Til I’m Gone Review

frank-foster-coverFirst of all, Country music has been embracing more influences from other genres, which is positive and moves the music forward in an accessible way. However, the best influences are when modern country borrows from southern rock, such is the case with Frank Foster. Also, His voice is certainly country, big sounding, warm with just a little rasp and a country drawl that lets you know he is a country boy. In contrast, The music surrounding him is firmly rooted in country/southern rock and that is a winning combination. His new album ‘Til I’m Gone offers ten tracks of mainstay country inspirations, alcohol, women and good times. What make Foster stand out is his songwriting, pulling in influences of southern rock, both melodically and with an engaging crunchy guitar sound.

‘Til I’m Gone has a variety of beats and feels, everything from hard driving to Buffett inspired tracks. Foster’s voice is consistent, he poses a nice range and his deliver is believable and easy to understand. The band is excellent, and the backing harmonies are tight. This is Country music for the people!

Therefore, Foster offers an edgy country sound with a deep masculine voice that penetrates with a gravelly voice that ignites. The tunes are memorable and the performances offer a nice mix of styles from classic country honky tonk to rip roaring southern rock outlaw anthems.

About The Author
Shannon Smith
A fan of music my entire life. Should that be enough, well it is for me. Who buys music, the fans. Who listens to music, the fans. Like me, there are many like-minded individuals that daily search for meaningful and new music to add to their playlist, their soundtrack of life. A life without music would Bb. Yes, I have seen that saying floating around for years, and truth is, its #truth. So, may I introduce you to Shannon Smith (me). I am the editor. A music junkie that can’t get enough music in my life. A nerd (proudly), with some mad love for technology and design. It is that desire that sparked Sound in Review. Life is busy, the reviews are meant to ultimately introduce and briefly talk about the music. We have a section called SIR Quote: this is my way of saying thank you, to the countless artists making the world a place of expression. Show yours by rating each artists album, just as we have (collectively as writers), to show your support for your favorite artist.
