Jordan Davis : Bluebird Days Review
Jordan Davis is a country singer with more than 4 Billion career streams; Davis has solidified himself as one of the most in-demand artists and songwriters on the country scene. Davis brings us his new project with Bluebird Days, his second studio album, featuring seventeen songs. The album includes the #1 double-platinum CMA Song of the Year, “Buy Dirt,” with Luke Bryan. The hit song (about faith, family, and friends) continues to resonate with fans worldwide, topping the Country Radio Airplay chart, amassing over 735M global streams, and earning NSAI Song of the Year. Also featured is the #1 Country hit, “What My World Spins Around.”
“Damn Good Time” has all the elements that have put Davis on so many playlists, a catchy melody, energetic guitar parts, a modern country beat, relatable lyrics, and Davis’ resonating country voice. Though this is pop-country, the effects are kept to a minimum on his vocals, which is an excellent sound; autotune and delay swimming around a country vocalist is never good. The songwriting is predictable, but this song is meant for parties and fun.
One of the more pop-oriented songs on the album is “You’ve Got My Number.” Again, Davis successfully distinguishes between overproduced pop and pop-country. Furthermore, his predominately natural vocals are a big part of this. In addition, the instruments are all-natural, and the guitar is excellent. This is pop-country with style and class.
Bluebird Days is Davis showing the country genre how to successfully present a pop-country album. Keep the vocals natural, use real instruments, have crunchy guitars, solid lyrics, and melodies, and sing it as you mean it, which Davis does.
