Kelsy Karter, What U Review

kelsy-karter-sirKelsy Karter has a goal to bring an edgy sound of rock to today’s youth. The vocalist is hot off the trail from her controversial publicity stunt of having Harry Styles face tattooed on her cheek. The publicity stunt also coincided with her single release “Harry.” Karter has teamed up with the same production and writing team of Anthony Rossomando and Tony Esterly to release her next single, “What U.” Both tunes are leading up to Karters debut album that will be releasing soon.

“What U” has Karter singing in a tough girl style, while still maintaining her flirty sensibilities. The driving guitar and bass is hip and makes for a fun backdrop to the lyrics. The vocals are produced with a slight distortion, giving a little low-fi effect which makes the tune that much dirtier.  Karter shows that she does have vocal chops in navigating the melody. The indie rock package is a good fit for her, the whole pretty devil fits her nicely. This is a hip sound and if “What U” is any indication of her up-coming project, this is going to be a good year for Karter.

The indi rock that Karter is presenting is full of sass and style. This is a female empowerment tune that will push any gender to strive for being yourself. Karter explains, “I’m not the girl that’s going to sit back and wait for things to happen. If I want something, I’m going to go after it. “What U” represents the spirit of Kelsy Karter, and everyone else on our rocketship to Mars.”  Good sounds coming from this up and coming artist, and no gimmicks needed!

About The Author
Shannon Smith
A fan of music my entire life. Should that be enough, well it is for me. Who buys music, the fans. Who listens to music, the fans. Like me, there are many like-minded individuals that daily search for meaningful and new music to add to their playlist, their soundtrack of life. A life without music would Bb. Yes, I have seen that saying floating around for years, and truth is, its #truth. So, may I introduce you to Shannon Smith (me). I am the editor. A music junkie that can’t get enough music in my life. A nerd (proudly), with some mad love for technology and design. It is that desire that sparked Sound in Review. Life is busy, the reviews are meant to ultimately introduce and briefly talk about the music. We have a section called SIR Quote: this is my way of saying thank you, to the countless artists making the world a place of expression. Show yours by rating each artists album, just as we have (collectively as writers), to show your support for your favorite artist.
