Imogen Clark : Found Me Review
Imogen Clark is back with a new single titled “Found Me.” She Recorded the track in LA with the help of bonafide musical legends that contributed to the project. Rock’n’Roll Hall of Famers Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) and Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello and the Attractions) infused the song with their playing and set a tone for Clark’s distinctive vocals to carry the melody. Clark explains, “Having guys whose playing I’ve been listening to my entire life come in and do their thing on my own songs was something I’ll never forget. Benmont sitting down at a Hammond Organ for Inside Out and immediately bringing that iconic sound that I’ve loved on so many Tom Petty songs, and hearing Pete’s drums explode out of the speakers… it really blew my mind.”
“Found Me” hits the mark with a steady beat that locks the ear tightly to Clark’s fully balanced voice that is filled with command and buoyancy. The production is full and multi-layered with harmony in full support of Clark’s powerhouse voice. The track has a super pop reminiscent of great hits of the 80s. The single is memorable and sticks to your bones, long after the listen, the stuff great singles are made of.
Clark explores a more Rock’n’Roll sound on “Found Me” compared to past projects. Her vocals are strong, and she exudes confidence as the song shows her range and playful vocal personality. The band is excellent, as is the songwriting. Clark has a sound, her years of performing and cutting her teeth at gigs has created a confidence in her singing that is palpable.
