Lo Lo: Sweater Collection Review

Lo Lo (Lauren Mandel’s stage name) is a vocalist and songwriter that was Born and raised in Toronto, Canada. Lo Lo’s first two singles “Yours” and “Convenient,” having been catching the ear of fans with her entertaining and flowing elegance.   At the age of thirteen, she picked up her first guitar and wrote a song urged on by her teacher giving her the beginnings of her love of music. Lo Lo has just released her third single and corresponding video titled, “Sweater Collection.”

“Sweater Collection” starts with a staccato synth figure that also supports Lo Lo’s first verse. Her lyrics are well-constructed, and her vocal quality is warm with clear diction. The pop beat is developed as the form flows along and we learn more about Lo Lo’s “Sweater Collection.” The chorus is full of vocal doubling and harmonies. Her music is bubbling with fun, and the video is an captivating watch. It is obvious Lo Lo has been affected by singers that came before her, Alanis Morissette and Taylor Swift. She does have her own sound and character and the melody is easy to sing along with. Lo Lo puts into words and music what everyone has felt at some time in their life, and that is a true gift of a singer/songwriter, to give voice to those universal emotions that are common among us.

Lo Lo has an effervescent sound, that is focused and filled with hip accessible vocal lines. Her youthful and playful style affected with electronics, a catchy chorus and a video that is simply presented, but completely infectious.  Her latest single “Sweater Collection,” is a worthy snuggle.
