Ayla D’Lyla | Money Review
Ayla D’Lyla is a vocalist and songwriter born and raised in New York City. D’Lyla attended performing arts school in midtown Manhattan, where she spent her days being classically trained in opera. That training influences her music, which is pop music with psychedelic, experimental, and dark pop elements. Her singing transports listeners to a seductive world of romance and dark fantasy with her poetic lyrics. D’Lyla’s new single “Money” will catch your attention with its thought-provoking lyrics and blatant sexuality. D’Lyla explains, “This song is exactly what you’d think it’s about. Many of the women in my life, including myself, seem to constantly feel emotionally unfulfilled by their relationships with men. Quite frankly, we just want your money.”
D’Lyla’s “Money” has a retro-seventies rock vibe mixed with today’s electro-pop. The lyrics are the focus of the opening statement and will pull you into D’Lyla’s world. The chorus features her falsetto singing, which is strong with its handling and diction. The song’s backing instruments support the vocals and straddle the line of pop and psychedelic rock. The string sounds build the music to a climax and put an exclamation mark on D’Lyla’s statement.
Making a brilliant package of sex, whit, and talent, D’Lyla paints with brushstrokes of youth. “Money” has an enjoyable use of multiphonics, rhythm, and dark energy that will burst into your world and demand you to listen.
