Freedom Fry

Zombie Love Review

Zombie-Love-Single-Art-FINAL

What makes this duet so unique?  A half-French and half-American amalgamation that is stirring the alternative folk pot with groundbreaking sounds. I am talking about Freedom Fry. They began writing songs together in the Summer of 2011 after a chance meeting on the set of a music video. Now living in Los Angeles and married, the duet creates their own brand of music that is catchy and energetic.  They create nearly everything in the Freedom Fry universe – from the videos and the artwork to producing and mixing all the songs in their studio, aptly titled The Cactus Garden.  Freedom Fry released their debut full-length album, Classic, at the beginning of this year.

The duet has just released a new single titled, “Zombie Love,” just in time for Halloween. With an up-tempo beat and a 50s vibe, the sound of Freedom Fry is all about catchy melodies and “Zombie Love” nails that thought, throughout. The song-form is straight ahead, but with the addition of subtleties like whistling and the male/female frontline, this track keeps things interesting. The video that accompanies the song is also creative and fits the mood of Freedom Fry. This duet is outstanding, be sure to stream!  You won’t want to stop!

Cute, catchy and a bit of a chuckle. All I can say is more please, and two helpings of some more of that. Freedom Fry is just what the doctor ordered. I’ve noticed a trend of getting back to hook oriented tunes that uplift, and this duo is leading the pack. Catchy lyrics with music hooks that with lure you in. Pun intended. This is a must have and certainly releasing just in time for All Hallows' Eve.

About The Author
Shannon Smith
A fan of music my entire life. Should that be enough, well it is for me. Who buys music, the fans. Who listens to music, the fans. Like me, there are many like-minded individuals that daily search for meaningful and new music to add to their playlist, their soundtrack of life. A life without music would Bb. Yes, I have seen that saying floating around for years, and truth is, its #truth. So, may I introduce you to Shannon Smith (me). I am the editor. A music junkie that can’t get enough music in my life. A nerd (proudly), with some mad love for technology and design. It is that desire that sparked Sound in Review. Life is busy, the reviews are meant to ultimately introduce and briefly talk about the music. We have a section called SIR Quote: this is my way of saying thank you, to the countless artists making the world a place of expression. Show yours by rating each artists album, just as we have (collectively as writers), to show your support for your favorite artist.
